This Is An Urgent Message From Your Conscious

There are ten days left before the CHIP (Children's Health Insurance Program) expires and millions of kids lose health coverage.

Early next week, Congress will vote on legislation to renew the program and cover 4 million children who would otherwise be forced to go without it.

The President has promised to veto. It's one thing to threaten political opponents but to deny millions of children basic health care is immoral. If the President follows through on this horribly misguided threat, Congress must override it.

The veto must not stand.

We are having a national call-in day next Tuesday in order to tell Congress and the President that we’re serious about protecting our children. Please call, and urge your friends and family to do the same.

Please call Congress at 1-800-828-0498 on our national-call in day next Tuesday. If you can't call then, please call right now. Tell Congress to support children's health and fight the President's veto.

Defending his opposition to kids' coverage President Bush claimed today that "our goals should be for children who have no health insurance to be able to get private coverage."

This puts him at odds with American parents whose number one goals is a healthy child.

Tell Congress to stand strong against the President's veto threat. Join our national call-in effort next Tuesday. Please call 1-800-828-0498.

Democrats aren't the only ones taken aback by the President. Even Iowa Republican Charles Grassley has had enough: "I'm frustrated for the kids of Iowa," said Grassley. "I am disappointed."

We couldn't agree more. The President and his allies are using their personal ideologies to stonewall health care for kids. This is a cruel and unacceptable tactic that puts innocent children in the crossfire of political games.

There are ten days left and we're ready to fight until the very end. We hope you will join us.

I completely agree with this motion to help children get healthcare. It is in the best interest of…well, everyone, for our children to have healthcare. The children, as everyone must know, are the future. We are obligated to make sure the children can even get to the future in the first place…and healthcare is a step in the right direction.

All children should revieve healthcare no matter their socioeconomic status. Lack of healthcare leads to many lifelong problems and costs more in the end.

I wrote my legislators and suggested that if President Bush wants more money for his war that they should tell him "No Schip, no war funding". Wheeling and dealing is nothing new to Washington.

You, along with almost every news article written on the subject (and all of the headlines), are missing the point here. The veto is not intended to deprive children of health care. The veto is to protect the American tax payer from abuse of their hard-earned dollars. In attempts to paint Bush as a child hater, the important facts are always glossed over. A SCHIP was proposed, families with incomes in excess of $100,000 qualify for assistance. These plans should be soley for the benefit of those that need assistance most. The aid received by these high (or at least higher)income families is aid not able to go to low income families in dire need of expensive health care. Prudent spending of our tax money is necessary to ensure that it is used as effectively as possible.

families making up to 80k will take their children off their health plans. and there are many states that have enrollees in schip that are adults who compromise well over 50% of enrollees

I can't believe all the back and forth debate was over a few billion dollars a year while the poor go without healthcare. I hope it comes back to haunt the Republicans.
